SUTHERLAND PARTNERSHIP APPOINTS NEW DEVELOPMENT OFFICER.
Sutherland Partnership is happy to announce the appointment of the new Sutherland Partnership Development Officer, Fiona Mackenzie. This new full-time post replaces the part-time post of Sutherland Partnership Manager, whose postholder, William Sutherland, has now retired.
Fiona, originally from Caithness, graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA (Hons) in History in 2001. After working for Historic Scotland in a number of different administrative roles she completed a postgraduate MSc in Sustainable Rural Development at the University of Aberdeen. During this time she developed her interest in community empowerment and sustainability issues. Graduating in 2009 she has been working for Scottish Natural Heritage as an Area Officer, primarily dealing with reviewing and updating documents relating to Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
The creation of the new Development Officer role is the latest development in a Sutherland Partnership review process which began with the Sutherland Summit in September 2009. You can read the Sutherland Summit Report, produced by "Rural Analysis Associates", by clicking here.
Fiona starts work on her two-year appointment in April 2011. Her work will revolve round implementing the Development and Action Plan for Sutherland, which was launched by John Thurso MP at the Sutherland Partnership AGM in Lairg on 2 September 2010. To read the Plan, click here.
Fiona's key tasks will include:
- Supporting groups and projects involved in the implementation of the Sutherland Development and Action Plan;
- Maintaining an overview of the Plan’s implementation and monitoring its progress.
- Promoting and marketing the work of Sutherland Partnership.
